Today we honor All Souls Day or the Commemoration of All of the Faithful Departed. With this tradition, we pray for those who have died, including our loved ones and people around the world who we will never meet. We take this day to remember them and comfort one another too. We pray that you are comforted as you remember personal losses today. Let’s pause and pray, remembering that we are in God’s presence.
Prayer for All Souls Day
God of mercy and life,
In every age, you are our source of consolation and hope.
Fill our hearts with comfort and consolation as we mourn all those who have died, especially those who have died during this past year.
Inspire within us the faith that proclaims you are the God of the living and not the dead.
Accept our expression of gratitude for the lives of our friends and colleagues who have died and
for the hope that one day we shall be together again.
May our remembrance renew our commitment to the ministry that brought us together and the compassionate work we shared.
May we experience unity in spirit with our dearly departed loved ones until that day when we are together forever in your kingdom.
