You are invited to unravel a puzzle. If you were offered a day of recollection with the title of “The Missing Piece” or “The Missing Peace” how would you spell the underlined word? If it were p-i-e-c-e, as in a piece of pie, what would be the missing piece for you this Advent as you prepare for the Feast of Christmas? But if it were spelled p-e-a-c-e, as in the peace and serenity of a tranquil lake, what would be that sort of missing peace for you?
Whichever may be missing in your life, think of it as a stumbling block for experiencing the deeper presence of Christ. On our day together we will look at both the p-i-e-c-e and the p-e-a-c-e that unravels the mystery of your connection to the divine. And while it is still Advent, such an unraveling of the mystery could position you for a celebration of a Christmas like no other.
Friends Day of Prayer retreats are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to attend and you can drop into any month. It’s not required to attend every retreat. Everyone will gather for coffee and pastries for the first half hour. Fr. Nicholas Amato will give a morning presentation, and then celebrate Mass in the Chapel before lunch. A delicious lunch will be served and then Fr. Nicholas will give an afternoon presentation. Free time will be offered to walk the labyrinth, spend quiet time in prayer or shop in the bookstore.
Father Nicholas is a regular presenter of retreats and days of recollection here at Bon Secours. He is the author of three books on spirituality — all available in our bookstore and on Amazon. He serves as Staff Pastor and responsible for spiritual enrichment and self-care at Church of the Nativity in Timonium, Maryland. He can be found on the parish’s website www.churchnativity.com. Come join us for a mini-retreat that is sure to enrich your life.
