Rev. Stephen Wade has been serving as a spiritual director during one of our summer week-long directed retreats for many years. He looks forward to his time at the Center this August 16-22 and he’ll also be speaking at our 2021 Valentine’s event.
Rev. Stephen offers the following prayer by Pope Francis to the Bon Secours community with hope and thanksgiving. We thought it was very fitting to include as our first post. Pray with us…
“Tonight before falling asleep
think about when we will return to the street.
When we hug again,
when all the shopping together will seem like a party.
Let’s think about when the coffees will return to the bar,
the small talk, the photos close to each other.
We think about when it will be all a memory
but normality will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.
We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.
Every second will be precious.
Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter.
We will go back to laughing together.
Strength and courage.”
~Pope Francis

It is truly amazing how God works. I was just thinking that I need spiritual support in addition to scientific facts. I went to my email, and your announcement about this blog literally popped up. Thank you. This is just what I needed.
Thanks so much for your comment, Barbara. We’re always amazed at how God works at the Center and now we look forward to reading stories like this about how God is working “virtually” too. Take care.
This is a new way to do evangelization. Thank you for keeping the Gospel alive…
Thank you Sr. Roberta. We’re doing what we can. Take care.
Thank you very much for this creative extension of your ministry. Just your kind thoughts have been encouraging and full of love. Know that all of you are also being remembered in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so much, Sr. Kathleen! We really appreciate the thoughts and prayers too. Take care and stay safe.

Thanks for your comment and for your prayers for our sisters too. Take care.
Thanks
The present moment is what I am given to share with my memories. I am given time to address my relationship with the Trinity that abides in me and the world. That mindfulness and praise is my hope.
I pray for all of us to remember the love and mercy of our God.
Thanks for sharing, Jo. It is helpful to view this time as a gift to focus on our time with God. We pray for love and mercy with you. Amen.
Beautiful reflection! Thank you. God bless our dear and precious Holy Father.
Thank you, Jacqui. We’re praying with you.
Thanks for this creative way to sustain us spiritually during these challenging days.
Pope Francis’ prayer so reflects his ever hopeful disposition, his Jesuit spirituality of finding God in all things and of the Ignatian practice of “acting against” despair and “choosing strength and courage”.
Hello, Sr. Mary Beth! Thank you for your feedback. We agree that Pope Francis’ prayer is uplifting and full of hope. Take care.
Such comforting words during this most difficult time.
Thanks for sharing, Karen. Take care.
Thank you for providing this prayer and this blog! Yes we’ve taken all of our ordinary day in/ day out activities for granted. We’ve been asked to “fast” from them for a bit. When we return to them, may we we are them as gifts to appreciate.
Thank you for sharing your positive outlook, Liz. What gifts they will be!
A great idea to keep us connected! Thank you!
Thanks, Kathy! Take care.
Be careful, be creative with this “new time”, be loving with those with whom you must now spend much more time than usual. While this will go on for a time, it too SHALL pass, and we will have a New Normal. Health and Grace to you all!
Thanks so much, Leigh. Great advice. Health and grace to you too.
I was so thankful to be able to attend the Taize Prayer service a few weeks ago and bring a few friends that it was a new experience for. Thank you for this blog that will in a small way keep the community that is blessed by the presence of Bon Secours Retreat Center in our lives, connected.
We’re so glad that you were able to attend our Taize service. Thanks for your comment and support. Take care.
Thank You so much for reaching out to us during this time of world concern over the spread of the virus. Knowing we are all connected in Faith and in Hope and in Trust is very comforting.
