Today’s reflection is from Rose Kurtz, the Manager of Guest Services at the Center. Normally, Rose can be seen around our Welcome Center or in her office, assisting guests with all of their needs. She can’t wait to be able to welcome everyone back to the Center soon! Let’s take a moment to quiet ourselves and pray with her…
During this time of social distancing and pretty much any time, I hold the words of St. Teresa of Avila in my heart.
Christ has no body now but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
We are truly God’s presence to those we encounter! It is through even the smaller moments that God’s love and compassion can be witnessed to by our actions and words. May we be aware of our opportunity to be God’s hands and feet to each other. ~Rose

Rose, Wonderful reminder, thanks for sharing.
Rose, thanks for your beautiful, spirit-filled reflection. We are truly God’s instruments on earth. All we need to do is say “yes” to His invitation, to plant the seed of faith & hope. Then, we will watch the Holy Spirit spread God’s grace & blessings over the whole world…
Thank You SO MUCH for sharing the prayer! In the mid-to-late-1970s, when I was in my early thirties, I wrote a prayer in one of my journals that is very similar to that prayer. I am now wondering if I had read or heard that prayer earlier in my life – and if that prayer had inspired the prayer I wrote in my journal. If so – Thank You St. Teresa of Avila for the inspiration – and thank you Rose Kurtz for sharing it on the Bon Secours Blog.
Here is the prayer I wrote:
“Follow Me”
I am no longer physically with you.
I am not there
to see
what needs to be done:
Be My eyes!
I am not there
to hear
those who are asking for help:
Be My ears!
I am not there
to reach out and touch
those who need reassurance:
Be My hands!
My words will have to be spoken
by your lips.
My love will have to be felt
by your heart.
When you share My Bread
I do not merely give you My Body
In your union with Me
You become My Body!
Beautiful, Judith! Thanks so much for sharing.
