Joy Aker, another spiritual director on this week’s Directed Retreat, shared a beautiful opening reflection and prayer with the retreat group last Sunday. We’re including a portion of it here for you to use during your personal meditation time too. Maybe it can serve as a mini-retreat for you today?
As We Begin our Retreat We Quiet Ourselves & Pray
Into the quiet God calls you
Calls you each by name
Into the quiet God calls you
Enter God’s dwelling
God’s love foretelling
On this day of days
~From the song, Into the Quiet, Liam Lawson & Tony Alonso
Psalm 62: 1,2, 5-10, 12
Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken….
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken….
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
As I enter into this time of quiet,
I place my trust in you.
During this time of retreat, quiet my soul and open
my heart and my mind that I may receive all the graces
you would have for me this week.
I ask you to please clear my mind and heart of worry and
fear, that I may make room for You; that I might listen
attentively; and that I may truly enter the quiet, and rest
in your great love for me.
Amen

Thank You. This is so beautiful! In my earlier response this morning to a later blog, I mentioned that I was going to do a private ‘at home’ retreat – to prayerfully catch up on all the blogs I missed during June and July. This is a perfect blog to help me begin my retreat at home.
