During yesterday’s Advent retreat with Sr. Bernie Claps, she began with the following scripture, prayer and song. We share it with the hope that you’ll be able to take a few moments to sit in the silence today so that you may feel the renewal of God coming into your life during this Advent season. (Stay tuned: Sunday’s blog will feature another meditation from this retreat.)
Opening Prayer
“Lord, open my heart to hear your word for me today. I ask that you console me, comfort me, strengthen my trust in your faithful love, and that you give me hope in the renewal of your coming into my life this Advent.”
Psalm 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14
I will hear what God proclaims;
the LORD–for he proclaims peace to his people.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.
Kindness and truth shall meet,
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.
The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
and salvation, along the way of his steps.
