Many guests will be attending our “Grief Retreat: How Wisdom/Spiritual Teachers Can Guide Us” retreat this Saturday. Unfortunately, it’s a topic that most of us are familiar with in life, but there are many resources available to guide us. Coming together in community and being aware of how grief can affect us can be a powerful tool for healing. We hope that if you are hurting today, reading this will remind you that you’re not alone in your journey. Invite the Spirit to be with for the comfort and peace that you need.
Grief
My heart has symbolically, shut down
it has been replaced with a void so wide and deep
it has become difficult to feel anything
Time is standing still
there is no desire
to be apart of this world right now
Why must my soul ache?
Can I survive this level of pain?
These are questions in which I have no answers
only a throbbing sense of helplessness
In my moment of profound sadness,
I am determined
death will not steal me away from my future,
as it has been sometimes known to do
I will not allow its tentacles to pierce me
nor will I allow it to bring me down
into its depths of nothingness
I will continue to grieve,
for that is what human’s do
but, in time, when I’m ready,
I will arise from grief’s clutches
to rejoin life again
~Paula Parker
Condolences
May the sweet light of change shine in the darkness,
May the first breath of each morning begin life again,
May the memories unfold as prayers for life,
May the love continue to fill the silence.
~Zenju
Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress;
my eyes grow weak with sorrow,
my soul and body with grief.
Psalm 31:9
Overcoming Life’s Hardships
O Lord, we call upon You in our time of sorrow, that You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life’s hardships.
Keep us ever in Your watch, till we can walk again with light hearts and renewed spirits.
