If you are in the midst of a grief journey, you know that any time of year can be difficult. Before we know it, the holidays will be upon us, making things even more challenging. We have two grief retreats planned before Christmas and we invite you to join us. Links to both retreats can be found below the poem below.
The poem was written by Jenifer Kirin, life coach and Bon Secours co-worker, who shares her thoughts about loss and grief.
The Relationship
With death
In mourning
Our loss is not the same
Specific identities,
interactions, and environments
Forged a relationship
as unique as any individual
A life has ended
It is gone
Our earthly access is revoked
We hold only the memories
We are the living half
of the relationship
Mourning the loss
of the whole
Each of us grieving
The same person and
A different loss

A CLOSING THOUGHT:
When we gather together to mourn the loss of a beloved, it can be difficult. While we all miss the same person, we knew them from different times and spaces and contexts. The specific behaviors, characteristics, and energetics that we loved in them might not be the same ones that someone else adored. We have each had our own meaningful exchanges and distinct relationship with the person that died, and each of us is on our own journey of grief.
