Feast of the Holy Family: A Model of Love, Tenderness, and Trust

Dec 28, 2025

As we enter the Christmas season, the Feast of the Holy Family invites us to pause and reflect on the grace, beauty, and sacred responsibility found within family life—whether our families are formed by blood, friendship, community, or shared mission. At the heart of this feast, we discover Jesus, Mary, and Joseph: a humble trio whose daily life together reveals the quiet holiness found in ordinary moments.

The Holy Family knew joy and celebration, but they also knew uncertainty, fear, and the challenges of navigating a world that did not always understand them. Yet through every season, they remained rooted in trust—trust in God’s plan, trust in each other, and trust that love itself would light their way. Their story reminds us that holiness is rarely loud or dramatic. Instead, it is cultivated through patience, forgiveness, compassion, and the willingness to see God in one another.

At the Retreat & Conference Center, we often witness the same sacred rhythms in the guests and groups who gather here. We see family members seeking rest, individuals rekindling their connection to God, and communities rediscovering the strength that comes from walking together. The Holy Family shows us that every household, every community, and every gathering can become a place where Christ dwells—when we choose love above all else.

On this feast day, we pray that each of us may find renewed tenderness for the people in our lives:
Patience in the moments that test us
Gratitude for the relationships that sustain us
Compassion for those who are hurting or feeling alone
Hope for the new year approaching

May the example of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph inspire us to build homes—both literal and spiritual—where peace is nurtured, faith is strengthened, and love is generously shared.

As we honor the Feast of the Holy Family, let us also remember that we are part of a larger family in Christ.
Here at the Sisters of Bon Secours Retreat & Conference Center, we hold you in prayer and invite you to carry the spirit of this feast into your everyday life. May your home and heart be blessed with God’s abiding presence.

Holy Family of Nazareth, pray for us.
