A Lenten Journey of Compassion and Hope
As we enter the sacred season of Lent, Ash Wednesday invites us to pause, reflect, and begin again. Marked with ashes, we are reminded of our humanity, our dependence on God, and our call to conversion. This is a season of renewal, a time to deepen our prayer, recommit to compassion, and open our hearts more fully to Christ’s transforming love.
In that spirit, we offer this Lenten prayer as we journey together in faith, mercy, and hope.
Here is a Lenten prayer that aligns with the Ash Wednesday caption and the healing mission of the Sisters of Bon Secours:
A Lenten Prayer
Merciful and loving God,
As we begin this sacred season of Lent,
we come before You in humility,
remembering that we are dust,
and to dust we shall return.
Create in us clean hearts, O Lord,
and renew within us a steadfast spirit.
Strip away all that distracts us from Your love,
and deepen in us a spirit of prayer, compassion, and mercy.
Teach us to walk more closely with Christ—
to serve with gentleness,
to listen with patience,
and to bring healing and hope
to all who are entrusted to our care.
May this Lenten journey transform us.
May our sacrifices open space for grace.
May our fasting lead to justice.
May our prayer lead to deeper communion with You.
And may our lives reflect Your tender mercy
in every act of love we offer.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
