A Call to Peace and Justice

Mar 22, 2026

Dear Friends, and Members of the Bon Secours Family,

We, Sisters of Bon Secours in the United States feel impelled to speak out about the events happening in our own country. Our social structures and mores are breaking down, and human dignity is being assaulted on multiple fronts. Regardless of our political persuasions, we are all people of faith, called to love, forgive, and live as women and men of peace.

We want to share a part of our Chapter Statement from September 19, 2024, which guides us into the next five years:

We share this charism and mission with the Bon Secours Family, as we commit:

We will live as peace makers.

We will cry out with others against injustice and all that diminishes life on Earth.

As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., reminded us, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” (1/28/1963)

We invite you to join with us in prayer, advocacy, and the struggle for a more humane world, in whatever way the Holy Spirit might lead you. One suggestion is to take a moment of silent prayer together every evening at 9:00pm. Another is to share our concerns with our congressional representatives and with our families, friends and neighbors.

Please share your thoughts and ideas with us so that together we are strengthened on our common pilgrimage of faith, hope, and love Let us continue to pray with and for one another as we work together for peace with justice.

Thank you, and may the God of peace and hope be with you and those you love,

Sisters of Bon Secours and the USA Leadership Team
