Being Thankful
National Gratitude Month in November encourages us to embrace a spirit of gratitude in our daily lives, and the Thanksgiving holiday reminds us to be thankful for our many blessings. For our November Friends Day of Prayer, Fr. Gene Nickol will guide us in exploring the biblical perspective on thankfulness.
All are welcome to attend the Friends Day of Prayer retreats, held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. It is not required to attend every month, so register for one or more sessions as your schedule allows. While the presenters and topics vary, each Friends Day of Prayer typically includes pastries and conversation at 9:30am, a morning presentation at 10am, an optional Mass, a delicious lunch, short periods of free time to enjoy the grounds or shop in the bookstore, and an afternoon presentation.
Fr. Gene Nickol was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1973. In addition to serving at St. Joseph’s in Fullerton and St. Agnes in Catonsville, Fr. Gene has been a pastor at St. Peter’s in Libertytown, Holy Trinity in Glen Burnie, and Our Lady of the Fields in Millersville. He is a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland and has been a Friends Day of Prayer presenter at Bon Secours for many years.
