Mysteries of the Rosary, Mysteries of Our Lives
The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. Praying the mysteries of the rosary (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, Luminous) invite us to reflect on different moments in the life of Christ. Our focus on this Friends Day will be to consider one of the joyful and sorrowful mysteries and how we can apply it to our lives. Some guide questions for our reflection: What has brought you joy? What has brought you sorrow? What helped you navigate a time of sorrow? From our experiences, how can we be instruments of healing, peace, and hope for one another?
While praying the rosary is a more familiar devotional practice for Catholics, people of all faiths are most welcome to attend this day of prayer as we reflect on moments in the life of Christ and apply these mysteries to our own lives.
All are welcome to attend the Friends Day of Prayer retreats, held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. It is not required to attend every month, so register for one or more sessions as your schedule allows. While the presenters and topics vary, each Friends Day of Prayer typically includes pastries and conversation at 9:30am, a morning presentation at 10am, an optional Mass, a delicious lunch, short periods of free time to enjoy the grounds or shop in the bookstore, and an afternoon presentation. Guided by Fr. Jim McBurney, OSA.
Fr. Jim McBurney is a priest of the Order of St. Augustine. He currently serves as Novice Director for the Augustinians, having previously done vocation and formation ministry for his community. In addition, he has served in parishes and province administration and has been engaged in retreat ministry and spiritual direction for many years.
