In the Scripture reading for the liturgy of Ash Wednesday, the prophet Joel says to us: “Return to me with your whole heart” (Joel 2:12). In the opening of the Confessions of St. Augustine, Augustine reminds us that our heart is restless until it rests in God. The season of Lent invites us to look into our hearts and to remember who we are as God’s people — that we are always being invited to embrace the call to ongoing conversion of heart. What is in your heart? How is your heart restless? What is the change of heart to which you are called? How does one nurture a hopeful heart? Drawing on Scripture, thoughts from St. Augustine, and other sources, we will explore these questions as part of our Lenten journey to the heart. Guided by Fr. Jim McBurney.
Check-in begins at 4pm. There will be a brief welcome session at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6pm. The retreat begins after dinner at 7pm on Friday and concludes before lunch on Sunday. Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel on Sunday morning for those who would like to attend.
