Psychological and Emotional Distress: How Spiritual Direction is Affected and How We Can Help
This is a virtual continuing education workshop for spiritual directors. As spiritual directors, we deal with the spiritual dimension of a person’s life, but there is always overlap with their emotional and psychological wellness. It is important for us to have some understanding of the overlap. How do we help someone to pray when they do not feel God’s presence, which is common in cases of depression? How to we help them to pray when they are dealing with anxiety, grief, addiction, anger, shame? Facilitated by Kathleen Hope Brown.
This is a virtual program, open to all spiritual directors. A Zoom Meeting link will be emailed to registered participants by Friday, November 22, 2024. When registering, please be sure to include the correct email address to which the Zoom link should be sent.
Kathleen Hope Brown, D.Min. is Director of Pastoral Care Services at the Saint Luke Institute in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her doctorate in Adult Spiritual Formation is from Catholic University. She lectures on spiritual direction in programs throughout the country.
