“Lent is a time for us to empty ourselves of worldly distractions and allow God to fill us with His love, His grace, and His peace.” ~St. (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta
The Lenten Season is a fertile time to journey with Jesus in a meaningful way and to employ our prayerful imagination as we encounter him, his life, and his ministry in the Gospels. It is a time of connecting intimately with Jesus while pursuing opportunities that help to nourish and renew our relationship with him and ourselves. As spiritual seekers, we can engage with the person of Jesus as way-maker and healer and discover (or rediscover) the Holy One’s healing love for each of us in the good news he revealed and embodied within his teachings.
As Lent begins its perennial unfolding this February, you are invited to gather virtually to mark this sacred period of deepening faith, wrestling questions, and responding to the Holy One’s call within our lives. In community, we will engage in contemplative practices with Sacred Scripture, such as lectio divina (with some contemporary nuances), while also personally reflecting upon what our respective intentions for this annual journey might behold. Dedicated time for creatively expressing these intentions will take shape through writing prompts, group discussion, and moments of prayer. We will also consider ancient and non-traditional Lenten practices that might enhance our journey this year. Music will also be included in celebration of this time together.
However you observe this transformative season, we hope you will join us and participate in this online program. Wherever you find yourself as Lent commences, this opportunity for beginning anew — together in solidarity and deep presence — awaits you.
