For our nation, to continue to promote liberty and freedom, justice and peace for all, we pray to the Lord…

For the people of the United States, to engage in a spirit of cooperation, tranquility, and respect for one another and for all human life as good stewards of the gifts God has given us, we pray to the Lord…

For our new President, to have before him at all times the charge to protect and defend the rights of all citizens, especially the weakest and most vulnerable among us, we pray to the Lord…

For all civic authorities, entrusted with care for the common good, to act with loving care in all they do, we pray to the Lord…

For the Church and its leaders, to serve as beacons of the light of Christ in a world in the shadows of fear, violence, poverty, and death, we pray to the Lord…

A Prayer for the Nation

Gracious God, you have made all the peoples of the earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace: Pour out your love and your blessing on the United States of America in this time of transition and turbulence. Keep the people of this Nation in safety. Guide those in authority, and give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
