Mar 19, 2021

Today’s post is another from Sr. Ji Choi, novice with the Sisters of Bon Secours. Sr. Ji is enjoying her time in ministry within retreat services and has been offering Stations of the Cross mini-retreats on Friday afternoons. She’ll be hosting the last one next Friday. Prayer to Saint Joseph

March 19th is the Feast day of Saint Joseph. We celebrate it in honor of Saint Joseph as a spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a legal Father of Jesus Christ, and the worker. More importantly, he is the Patron of the Universal Church. As he protected the Blessed Mother Mary and his child, Jesus, we devote our faith in his protection of each one of us and furthermore of the entire Church. Celebrating his feast day, I would like to share the following prayer that was added in the apostolic letter of Pope Francis, Patris Corde, where he declared this year as “the year of Saint Joseph.”

Hail Guardian of the Redeemer,

Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

To you God entrusted his only Son;

In you Mary placed her trust;

With you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,

Show yourself a father

And guide us in the path of life.

Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,

And defend us from every evil.

Amen.

~Pope Francis
