Authentic faith

Rev. Stephen Wade served as a spiritual director on our August Directed Retreat last week. He often offers insightful resources to his directees as they are unpacking their spiritual journey. Today, he shares one of these powerful resources with us. Comment and let us know if it spoke to you. Authentic faith is more than an echo of a tradition. It is a creative situation, an event. For God is not always silent, and man is not always blind. In…

Sentinel of Conscience

Several retreat guests will arrive today to begin their 3-night or 6-night Directed Retreat. These retreats are offered periodically throughout the year and offer a time of silence for guests. They meet with a spiritual director for one hour per day and attend Mass, if they'd like, but otherwise spend time reflecting, praying, reading and writing on their own within an environment of silence. Many seek this retreat annually to reconnect with the still, small voice within and they leave…

Becoming a participant in your own life

Today's post comes from retreat presenter, Mary DeTurris Poust. It's a great reminder, especially as we begin the season of Advent. Will you take some time to pause during this special time of anticipation and hope? Becoming a participant in your own life by Mary DeTurris Poust on November 3, 2021 It’s amazing how we can convince ourselves that we simply don’t have the time to do even the little things that might make our lives demonstrably better. We race…

We Are One

Today's prayer comes from Sr. Bernie Claps, Manager of Spiritual Care and Mission at our Center and also the Sisters of Bon Secours Formation Director. She recently read this during her evening prayer time and she wanted to share it with our community too. May we remember the big things today. Thank you, Sr. Bernie! Keep me, oh God, from all pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with fault-finding and leave…

“Tuesdays with Morrie”

Rose Kurtz, our Guest Services Manager at the Retreat & Conference Center, offers today's reflection based on a recent book that she read. She misses all of the staff at the Center and looks forward to when we can open our doors to guests once again. Let's spend a little quiet time reading Rose's reflection. “Tuesdays with Morrie” During the Pandemic I have been reading many books and one that stood out to me was “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch…

Prayer In the Time of COVID-19

Rev. Stephen Wade offers today's reflection. He has been a spiritual director during one of our summer directed retreat for many years. We look forward to welcoming Rev. Stephen back to the Center this August! Let's take a few quiet moments to read about his thoughts on prayer during this uncertain time. Prayer In the Time of COVID-19 Let’s face it.
